I was going to talk about something else this week, but I have had requests for a different approach.
I try to keep abreast of what is going on in the world around me, and the information I am getting is not very promising, and trying to navigate a way through the mess which is all around is particularly difficult for the simple reason than the mess is being created by irrational people. One cant devise a plan to deal with lunatics. Unfortunately we need to pay attention and try to pre-empt the next disaster.
It doesn’t help that the person supposedly in charge of the American war machine is deranged. It also doesn’t help that the US parliamentary representatives are paid by the Military Industrial Complex and the Zionist political group, and the essential aim of US foreign policy is to keep making war.
Since the end of the second world war the world has been on edge almost non-stop. Stalin and his legacy was a serious problem for the world prior to and after the war. That problem started to lessen as the Stalinist political agenda was diluted and eventually thrown out over the intervening decades, but after 1989 when the soviet era was officially buried, things should have improved. Instead, they got worse.
Russia gave the satellite countries their political freedom, and the US claimed it would reciprocate, whereas the US has done precisely the opposite, and the whole of Western Europe is littered with occupying American armies, and the area is treated as an American subject satellite.
For god’s sake they have even started no less than three wars in Europe during my lifetime, one of which, Julie and I were stuck in. And that doesn’t include what they’ve done to help destroy the UK’s political influence, and also the country’s economic stability.
I do remember when the US helped president Nasser of Egypt drive the Brits out of Suez. That was quickly followed by punitive actions against sterling which led in the early sixties to its devaluation.
The US is still using financial actions to blackmail countries into submitting to their political agenda. The most obvious at the moment is the financial chokehold the US has over Egypt and Jordan to try and get them to support Israel. And what in god’s name does the USA think they are doing in supporting genocide?
I have already mentioned that I find it incredible that the USA has instituted no less than 83 regime changes since the end of the second world war. That’s more than one a year. No wonder Washington is so hated around the globe.
The real problem for us is the way the USA is trying to destroy Western Europe. The Nordstream Pipeline was deliberately destroyed by the US government. That is officially an act of war.
The installation of the current administration in Kiev in 2014 was also an act of war. So was the systematic bombing of the Russian speaking regions in Eastern Ukraine. Finland and Sweden are being bribed to accept a massive build-up of weapons in their countries. The US has been destabilising Iraq for decades, and is currently trying to destabilise Georgia, and to cap it all they are sending money and weapons to assist Israel in its campaign of genocide in Gaza.
Some of you know that I used to live briefly in Israel, and I was part of the team that helped uncover Herod’s palace on Massada. I enjoyed my time there, but even then it was clear that the Israeli attitudes had an alarming streak in them. The contemporary joke was that all the nazis went to Israel after the war. That joke is not so funny now.
People seem to forget that Judaism has a few rather alarming tenets which are fundamental to Zionism. According to the old Hebrew religious books there are only two classes of person on this planet, Jews and Gentiles. If you are a gentile then you are not one of God’s chosen, and you are only fit for cannon fodder.
When I went to live and work in Egypt I was taken to Gaza to see what the Israelis were doing to the Palestinians who were incarcerated in prison camps. This, ladies and gentlemen, was in the mid sixties. The Israelis have been trying to destroy the Palestinians for the best part of seventy years.
The most appalling thing I saw was an Israeli military truck that burst in through the perimeter gate of the Palestinian encampment. Soldiers jumped out and quite deliberately spent the next ten minutes shooting at children, and laughing about each one they downed. The sight of that will haunt me to my grave.
This war against the Palestinians has been raging for most of my lifetime. I will suggest that there is no possibility of a two state solution. It hasn’t worked for seventy years. It is even less likely to work now. But the question is; What’s next?
I dont think this will escalate to nuclear war, but we are dealing with a complete maniac here. He is capable of destroying the world because he cant get his own sordid way.
On top of that, Western Europe is in chaos, and is plunging down a hole. We urgently need a new approach to life. There is an alternative, and that alternative is growing in strength at a significant pace. Ignoring it wont help, because it certainly wont go away.
We currently have no less than three EU member or associate member states openly breaking ranks, with another, Italy, heading that way. These cracks in the system are going to get wider. The important question to answer at the moment is whether the current financial and political chaos in Europe can last much longer before there is a major upheaval, and what form that upheaval will take. I cant answer those questions, but anyone who thinks everything is coming up roses needs an urgent transplant.
I will continue these arguments next week as I have a quick look around Europe, and see if I can draw any conclusions about what is happening, and where we are all headed.
Meanwhile, on a lighter note, here in the Algarve we have approached the hectic season. The grapes are already fat and succulent, and this week the first of the figs are ready, and they are delicious. I now have to cope with storing them.
See you next week.
