Thank you for the messages and good wishes some of you have sent me. Much appreciated, and treasured.
Some of you have been with me rather a long time, which is also nice to know. After all, I have been sending out material under the flag of the Unique Property Site for a ridiculously long time. The website is, after all, the oldest property site on the web, and has been going since I first set up a pilate version on The Well, which operated out of San Fransisco back in 1991. That means the site has been online since the public data network turned into the world wide web. I moved the site to the UK in 1992, initially I believe hosted by Demon, which no longer appears to exist.
But let’s move forward to today.
Sadly, we appear to be living through a particularly bad patch. And even sadder, I expect things to deteriorate from here in the West. That is why I am trying to move out of the EU, which is falling apart at the seams. How long that is going to take me I dont know, but my intentions are to head East, and in particular to live in a BRICS country. That seems to me to be the future. My beliefs no longer chime with the new western philosophies.
However, despite the general gloom across rather large parts of the world, if I walk to the top of my garden and look out across the fields to the sea and the local town I see no enemies advancing with spears or canon. All looks peaceful. People are going about their business. There is happy chatter in the supermarkets, and people are still smiling. The sun is out. There isn’t a cloud in the sky, and the larder is well provisioned.
The trouble starts, luckily, further from home, and may it long stay that way.
The news I keep getting from the UK is not good and doesn’t improve, so I shan’t be heading back there.
I was born in the West Indies, so maybe it is now appropriate for me to head to the East Indies.
In the meantime I hope you are all not only surviving, but cresting the wave, and looking forward to another good year. See you there.
